Huna: Hakalau, the Hawaiian way for Uptime

How to quickly enter a trance state at will

Hakalau The means, in the Hawaiian system, for entering a rapid trance state at will. In our Huna Intensives given in Hawaii, we suggest to the Haumana (students) that they use this technique inside and outside of class — all the time — until it becomes automatic.

Hakalau is the state we are in as we go from place to place, walking, cycling, riding in a car, etc. And as you do it more and more, you will also find that it is impossible to hold a negative state in consciousness when you are in peripheral vision.

Hakalau is also why some Shamans won’t actually make eye contact with you, because it could interfere with the state. (Truthfully, if eye contact can interfere with your state then you need more practice with a qualified guide.)

Uptime — Listening to Micheal Breen’s DVDs on “The Art on Anchoring” (http://www.nlp-anchoring.com/) and his commentary on questions asked I was directed to the Art of Uptime. Googling further I found http://www.nlpworld.co.uk/nlp-world-shop/advanced-nlp-presentation-skills and the Huna word for Uptime being “Hakalau”.

The importance of Uptime/Hakalau — In “Turtles all the Way down” from John Grinder & Judith DeLozier there also is talk about this subject. I think it is so important it can be labeled: the first thing a NLP-er has to learn. And even if that were the only thing you ever learn from NLP, then you have earned your money back.

Go in Trance first — NLP is about change. Now to make change happen the person involved has to be in a trance state. And in order for the person to get into that trance state … you have to go first. With adequate rapport you will find the person go in trance with great ease and grace. Only then you will be able to deliver a clean job. And that is what you want, don’t you??

I invite you to take a deeper look at http://www.ancienthuna.com/hakalau.htm and learn what it is first hand.

Meaning of Weak in muscle testing

What makes a muscle test weak?

As you read how to do a muscle test in http://home.planet.nl/~salom680/musclemon.htm, you learn to understand that muscle testing is a trust in yourself, a learning to rely on the motion (or not) that you will perceive. Something you will have to get familiar with as you start to practize muscle testing.

Movement of a limb – As stated the goal of muscle testing is to observe what is happening with the limb as you put a little pressure on it. As in terms of Touch for Health, to bring the muscle under movement stress occurring while you move the limb in a direction that has a stretching effect on the muscle that lies in the line of movement. We observe what is happening with the limb, because that has the strongest sway, the greatest range of movement.

Strong and Weak – And what do we observe technically: movement or NO movement. In terms of Touch for Health it is called Strong or Weak. The goal of this text is to focus on what makes a muscle test Strong and what makes it Weak.

It is very easy to give a mechanical explanation for this thing called Weak or Strong, in a way of “a stress impuls that activates the brain to produce certain chemicals that inhibit the nervous system, thus showing a weak muscle“. It may or may not be the case.

Again as you have read http://home.planet.nl/~salom680/musclemon.htm you by now know that we can discriminate THREE occurances of muscle monitors:

  • A muscle test is strong and reacts as the spindle cell is activated
  • A muscle test is strong and stays strong
  • A muscle test is weak.

As I already work with muscle testing for a long long time now – and having it internalized along the way (http://orthokin.nl) – muscle monitoring no longer is liable for an explanation in the line of “stress impulses and chemicals”.

As I have internalized it, it has become more of a mentalizing act. Where my mind focuses on the field of stress and the Body Mind Spirit conglomerate reaches out for me and shows me where to go with the corrections.

When the muscle stays Strong – Doing so I have noticed that a muscle stays Strong when Body Mind Spirit struggle to keep everything forcefully under control. In other words Body Mind Spirit is on the brink of losing control over the situation at hand. Energy is about to dissipate. It is all hand on deck.

When the whole body tests weak — As in “Total Weakness” in muscle testing you find Body Mind Spirit have retreated to standards of the Other-then-Conscious. In other words Conscious “has left town”, you are in the middle of Survival. Acting you the way you always saved your butt. In this way I have noticed that testing Weak is a state of body mind spirit where the conscious / unconscious has chosen to step out of the body, possibly more in the aura. In a way Will has chosen or is forced to go out of body’s way. This out of body experience is something you don’t want to experience too long, for it makes you feel steerless.

So, what I would like to know from you, whether or not – my fellow tester – you are observing the same??

Keeping a CLEAR mind while testing – Thought may come up in your mind that I am manipulating the system. Heaven forbid. I observe and have a CLEAR mind while I am testing. And I hope you too! It is energy we observe, it is energy we want to get flowing again. No flow, no replenishing. And you know what it is like to be in a flow, don’t you?!!

>> Touch for Health is a form of Specialized Kinesiology.
>> Manual muscle testing a means by which we as kinesiologist enter a dialogue with Body Mind Spirit to ultimately HEAL THAT WOUNDED HEART and bring energy back to flow!
>> A CLEAR mind is necessary for you to observe that WHAT IS.

Flying dance: Temple style lomi lomi massage groundwork

Kahu Abraham: Kahuna Temple Style Bodywork

Temples Style is just what is is! – When you enter the room of the masseur you are REALLY entering a room that is “decorated like a temple”. And you know what it is to be in a temple, don’t you! You are invited to go inside and relax. While th masseur is doing his dance, you relax … and because you are in a temple you may find during that relaxation something “spiritual” happening or not. And that is what is different from lomilomi.

Kahuna Temple Style Bodywork in action

This DVD at http://thelomistore.com/dvd.html holds invaluable information as you watch how Kahuna Temple Style Bodywork is done [see clip].

Kahuna Bodywork is meditative massage

The Kahuna are more than just priests, medicine men or shamans as you might find them in other native cultures. Of course there would have been a Kahuna priest to lead people in worship and purification ceremonies. But generally the Kahuna is a master professional in one or more chosen fields.

Ancient (Hawaiian) Kanaka Maoli Kahuna Bodywork is NOT a massage in the sense of a normal Lomi lomi, as its effect is projected to other members of the genetic family lineage [aina], future and past. Kahu Abraham brought Kahuna (temple style) Bodywork into the world, and as he stated “was only understood and done by a Kahuna or those trained by a Kahuna to highest level of understanding (in principle, not in technique!)”.

  • To be able to use the word Kahuna in association with the bodywork, one needed to have permission by the Kahuna. At the beginning the work was called simply Hawaiian Bodywork, later at highest level Kahuna Bodywork.
  • Kahuna Bodywork training is available in various countries, as Ki’a'i Ho’okahi and Kahu Abraham Kawai’i developed over 2 years.
  • Kahuana Bodywork contains Lomilomi (massage) on basis of the flight of the performer. 1) As it is boldly more of a meditative expression by means of the flying dance as it is performed by the practitioner while moving around the “table”. [Steps of the flying dance can be observed in videoclip above]
  • Kahuna Bodywork is NOT to be mistaken with the Hawaiian family style of Lomi lomi, or any other name given by Western society. So if you only want to learn the massage techniques don’t go here!

Kahu Abraham started training non-Hawaiians in the 1960’s, (against the advice of the secretive Kahuna Guild (Kanaka Maoli). 2)

Ka’alele au, a dance or ‘flight’ with the body on the table – Also called the Flying dance or when performed in conjunction with bodywork a “flight with the body” is the beginning of learning to read the ‘Script’ of the body.

  • The Flying dance steps are Sacred steps of Kahi, the first form of the Flight of the Performer.
  • Only when intent and purpose get completely eliminated from the mind of the performer the ‘flight’ will be internalised. The effects go far beyond the effects of massage.
  • “Flying dance” has 143 forms in performance of the Flight and beyond. The Flight is filtering more into all types of massage trainings.

It is as Whirling like a Derwish,
dancing as a Shaman on a monotonus beat,  or
watching while feeling-thoughts melt as snow for the sun,
one becomes One with Nature.
Nature that is always and forever.

Flying Dance is meditation in movement - When intent and purpose are completely eliminated from the mind of the Performer while in “flight”, the mind is CLEAR and one can “FEEL” oneself as ONE with the person on the table. In this state the Performer is like a mediator between the physical and the non-physical worlds. Simply dancing in the Right State of Mind should make that difference. And, yes, you can experience that for your self. And while dancing you perform lomi lomi healing strokes. Ain’t that great. Have you enjoyed the videoclip? NO! If you have the time, this is your chance!

———————————————————————–
1) _”The traditional Hawaiian (Kanaka Maoli) Massage, is called Lomilomi or Romi (meaning to knead) and was formerly taught generally within the structure of the Hawaiian society. This is the common style of massage comparable to what Swedish massage is to modern day people.” http://www.kahunasource.com/kahuna_bodywork.html

2) _ Read this message ["Hawaiian LomiLomi" by Nancy S. Kahalewaí], page 52:
[Kahuna Temple Style Bodywork ...] While most of this work can be beneficial, and the healing principles are universal, it is NOT CONSIDERED – by the Kanaka Naoli – to be Native Hawaiian in Origin. This upsets many Hawaiians who feel their sacred ways are constantly exploited for profit.”

Shinzen Young: The Science of Enlightenment

What meditation is, let Shinzen guide you

Impermanence and Equanimity explained

When you think what these words mean, here is what the Internet has to say:

  • Impermanence - every conditioned existence, without exception, is inconstant and in flux
  • Equanimitypermission to feel … feel so deep that it changes the nature of feeling.

You most certainly will understand it after you have listened to the audiobook “The Science of Enlightenment (MP3|CDA). Then you will have a greater feel for these definitions, find yourself wanting to practize it. Other notions are: dharma, karma, samadhi, zen.

The Science of Enlightenment” are a series of talks from Shinzen Young where he elaborates on meditation, the alikeness – through all cultures and religions – of experiences while meditating and above all a rather scientific approach to the explanation of it all. And of course you haven’t experienced anything, when you haven’t done it. Go in meditation with Shinzen Young. And reading further you will find Ross Jeffries recognized an application.

—————–

Shinzen Young is a teacher of Vipassana meditation and founder of Vipassana Support International. Vipassana means to see things as they really are and is one of India’s most ancient techniques of meditation. It was taught in India more than 2.500 years ago as a universal remedy for universal ills, i.e., an Art of Living.

—————–

I understand the integrity of Ross Jeffries not mentioning this in his article, I also find that I want you to take notice of Shinzen Young’s reasoning and teachings in specific. Especially if you are interested in Meditation and want support by someone who is linguistic, mechanical, logical, empirically inclined. Because his talks are all of this!

For short, when you are interested you also learn about: Impermanence, Equanimity at www.shinzen.org.
